As a Doula, I Do Not:
Free Consultation
Before you book me as a doula, you may book a free consultation. Some people consider this like "interviewing" your doula. This helps both me and you to see if we would be a good fit or not.
2 Prenatal Visits
Each doula package comes with 2 prenatal vists. Optional in-person vists can be purchased in advanced. These may be to further pratice birth positions, discuss your concerns, or to prepare for your baby.
Phone & Email Support
You will be provided with constant acess to phone and email support.
Professional Information
As a doula, it is my responsibility to give you all fo the information you need to make informed decisions about your labor and post-partum period.
During labor
I will not leave your side. Unless your labor is over 24 hours, and I physically cannot give you the support you deserve, a back up doula will be requested to step in, in my stead. You will be meeting the back up doula I have choosen.
Baby’s first feeding Support
Although most hospitals and midwives are trained to aid in breastfeeding, I will also be there to give advice and to offer support. I will also provide you with resources from the community if you have trouble down the road.
Community Referrals
I will be able to refer you to someone within the community to serve your needs. That may be lactation support, a cloth diaper store, or a farmer who sells organic produce.
Perform any clinical tasks
As a doula, I am your comfort and your resouce. I will not perform climical tasks; such as but not limited to, cervical exams, fetal heart rate monitor, or blood exams.
Make decisions for you
A doula is supposed to empower their client. It is not my right to make important medical decisions for another human being. You have that right for your own body.
Speak to the staff on your behalf
In order to avoid confusion, I will not speak to a staff member without you or your partner present. It is best for my consious, and to make sure I am not giving unwarrented opinions.
Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience
I may be a Christian, but that does not mean I will force you to follow my beliefs or practices. I am here to physically and emotionally help you during this important time of your life.
Postpartum follow-up visit
Each Client is entitled to one postpartum visit. I will come check on you, and we can talk about your birth experience. This helps many women, especially those who are prone to post-partum depression.
